This project is part of the Victorian Government’s initiative to upgrade and improve rail lines across metropolitan Melbourne. The Victorian government is extending the South Morang train line to Mernda to cater for the significant population growth in Melbourne's north.
The Mernda Rail Extension Project saw 8km of new rail stretching from the existing South Morang station to Mernda. The $600 million project included three new stations, three road over rail crossings and three elevated rail over road crossings. Heading and Associates provided survey and management solution involving control establishment and maintenance, feature survey, construction set out, as-constructed surveys and development of plans. The Cadastral team were involved in the Title Re-establishments and creation of strata title plans to demarcate changes in land ownership between Victrack and Vicroads
